Behavior Support Technician

DescriptionThe Arc of the Ozarks invites you to join our team of value‑driven professionals to support individuals with disabilities in enhancing the quality of their lives.
Job OverviewThe Behavior Support Technician is the bridge between people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their communities. You will encourage and mentor individuals, supporting them in maximizing their full potential.
The BST role is involved in providing supports for all aspects of an individual’s daily life activities, including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, medication administration, behavioral care, and community participation.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities- Educate and assist clients on skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, and other activities of daily living.
- Support clients in learning and encouraging coping skills to address challenging behaviors.
- Use verbal de‑escalation and redirection to ensure client safety when necessary.
- Work with behavior‑analysis professionals to implement and follow recommended behavior support plans.
- Minimum 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a course in Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.
- Pass a 16‑hour Medication Administration course.
- Pass a 10‑hour MANDT System workshop.
- Pass an OSHA health and safety course.
- Pass an Abuse & Neglect course.
- Pass an Electronic Documentation course.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, stoop, pull, and push items.
- A Class E driver’s license (or willingness to obtain one). Licensed and insured driver preferred.
- Passionate about working with individuals with disabilities and increasing their independence.
- Excellent communication and rapport‑building skills.
- Growth mindset and openness to feedback.
- Adaptable to varied and flexible hours.
- Growth and promotion opportunities within the organization.
- Paid initial and ongoing training certification and professional development opportunities (CPR/First Aid, MANDT, Paraclete, Level One Med Aide, etc.).
- Typical 8‑hour shifts on days, evenings, or overnights with primary openings for evenings/weekends.
- Potential for annual wage increases.
