Student Assistant, Intramural Sports

Job Overview

This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the success of Lake Sumter State College. The Student Assistant will provide essential support, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure efficient operation of departmental activities.

This is a part‑time position with a commitment of no more than 25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic and other responsibilities. Students are not allowed to work during class meeting times. The role demonstrates LSSC’s values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating.

• Assist with intramural/event registration and oversee intramural/event rosters
• Assist with implementing procedures, policies, and equipment/field checks, and repairs
• Inventory all intramural/event equipment and assist with ordering trophies, t-shirts, etc.
• Communicate accurately and timely with staff and students as needed
• Assist with scheduling sports events, facilities, and officials
• Assist with the development of electronic and paper communications and promote events
• Attend meetings when a student representative is requested
• Willingness to travel between other LSSC campuses
• Update campus-wide bulletin boards with relevant material
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and confidentiality

• Currently enrolled at Lake Sumter State College (min. 6 credit hours)
• Hold and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Minimum age of 18
• Florida Driver’s License
