Position OverviewUWLS is seeking a dynamic and creative Resource Development Manager to lead day‑to‑day fundraising and donor stewardship efforts that increase contributions and volunteer engagement to support our mission. This position is ideal for a self‑starter who enjoys working collaboratively across departments and managing external partners and volunteers to get things done. This role will not supervise staff but will be responsible for supervising interns and volunteers for fundraising as well as affinity group and corporate volunteer engagement.
The position supports all areas of the organization, with a close partnership with our marketing manager, community impact leaders, and grant writer.
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan that achieves the financial resources required for programs, partner agency allocations, and organizational budget.
- Implement a strong year‑round donor campaign that includes monthly goals for prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors. Increase the donor base by securing new donors, recovering former donors, and retaining the existing donor base.
- Collaborate with the grant writing specialist and community impact team by identifying and qualifying sources for grants to United Way programs. This includes successful efforts in cultivating key grant prospects where application by invitation is needed.
- Engage and motivate volunteers to take on fundraising roles with assigned donor and prospective donor contacts. This includes recruiting and providing leadership to a board level volunteer Resource Development Action Group.
- Provide co‑staff leadership to the Women United Affinity Group along with the Community Impact Director and the Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Develop written appeal letters for sponsorship of United Way programs, events, and affinity groups.
- Cultivate top area companies to adopt a formal partnership with United Way that supports the companies’ community relations goals where it aligns with United Way’s impact goals and capabilities.
- Design and implement special events activities to raise additional revenue and deepen donor participation.
- Manage accurate record‑keeping through the internal Customer Relationship Management database.
- Network in the community at events and other key occasions to build awareness and relationships with key contacts.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or a similar field.
- Five years of experience in fundraising or related roles in development, sales, and customer relations.
Skills:
- Ability to work with and lead volunteers.
- Strong writing, storytelling, and presentation skills; comfortable making in‑person appeals for support.
- Attention to detail and strong financial/analytical skills; comfortable using database reporting tools and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to manage time and multiple priorities while spending up to 50% of time on meeting with stakeholders.
Licenses/Transportation:
- Valid Florida driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
