loudoun county, virginia is looking for a skilled and motivated entry‑level planner to join the permits issuance division of dbd. The zoning permits planner position provides an opportunity to contribute to the success of dbd by ensuring that zoning permits are issued in accordance with the loudoun county zoning ordinance and services are delivered effectively to the loudoun county community. This is a temporary position with a 12‑month assignment.

the temporary zoning permits planner i is an entry level position as a planner i and has no supervisory responsibilities.

• provide expert guidance to applicants: respond to online requests for information and walk‑in inquiries from the public on matters concerning land use regulations. You’ll become a subject matter expert on the loudoun county zoning ordinance and provide applicants with information necessary to achieve zoning approval for their residential or commercial project.
• zoning permit referrals: utilizing the county’s permitting system, review residential and commercial zoning permit applications for compliance with the loudoun county zoning ordinance and prior administrative and legislative land development application approvals; manage referral comments from partner referral agents; and provide technical assistance to residents, developers, and business owners, related to the application and permitting process. You’ll use your subject matter expertise to ensure regulatory compliance.
