We are seeking a mission-focused Lead Security Engineer to support a Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity program. In this role, you will lead a team of penetration testers and vulnerability analysts, ensuring security operations meet mission requirements while strengthening processes, governance, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on expertise with security tools, proven leadership in SOC-type environments, and the ability to clearly communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Job Description- Lead a team comprised of penetration testers and vulnerability analysts.
- Ensure compliance to Service Level Agreements (SLA), process adherence and process improvisation to achieve operational objectives and mitigate threats.
- Revise and develop processes to strengthen current operational activities; review policies and recommend changes to improve governance based on knowledge of security tools.
- Responsible for team management and overall use of resources and initiation of corrective action where required for Security Operations Center.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Knowledge of penetration testing tools and ability to assess penetration testing findings.
- Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools to maintain capabilities as a sustained, full‑time program independent of incident detection, recovery, or reporting activities.
- Experience with business process reengineering, capability maturity model, change management, or process improvement.
- Minimum six (6) years IT experience with at least four (4) years in an IT security position.
- Qualified candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience leading a team in a SOC-type operation for a government or commercial client.
- BS Degree or additional work experience substitution.
- Experience with tools like Web inspect, Nessus, Burp Suite, Metasploit, PCAP tools, etc.
- Experience with interpreting, discussing, or presenting findings to stakeholders as required.
- Experience with building metrics around findings or output from pen testing and/or scanning tools.
