Job Description & How to Apply Below

Would you like to take charge of the day-to-day operations at a unique maritime project site where accommodation vessels are deployed, maintained and operated?

As a Port & Barges Site Manager, you will be the main point of contact on site and responsible for day-to-day coordination at a port site where accommodation vessels (barges) are mobilised and operated.

You will work at a dynamic project site where various activities take place simultaneously. You will maintain an overview and ensure that work on vessels, infrastructure and site development is properly coordinated.

In doing so, you’ll work closely with project management and technical teams and have frequent contact with suppliers, contractors and other parties carrying out work on site. With a practical approach and strong organisational skills, you’ll ensure that work proceeds safely, in a structured manner and according to plan, and that all parties involved can collaborate efficiently.

Who are we?

Slaapschepen organises temporary project accommodation on board ships, from the initial enquiry right through to on-site implementation. We handle the entire process: from fitting out and operational management to day-to-day coordination. We remain involved throughout the stay and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Wherever there is water, we deliver suitable accommodation solutions quickly and efficiently.

As an organisation, we are growing and have ambitious plans. This means that, in addition to your day-to-day duties, you may also be asked to take part in (change) projects. The atmosphere is informal, open and enterprising. You’ll shape your role independently and work within a close-knit team that values decisiveness and a sense of ownership.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring a well-organised and safe project site where multiple parties are working simultaneously. Your work will have a direct impact on project progress, operational continuity, cost control, and safety and quality on site. Furthermore:

  • You’ll be the first point of contact on site for operational activities.
  • You will work with the Project Manager on the mobilisation and planning of the barges.
  • You will coordinate the work of other parties on vessels, installations and site facilities.
  • You will coordinate activities between suppliers, contractors and operational parties.
  • You will maintain an overview of planning, progress and the deployment of resources.
  • You will establish practical site procedures for safety, logistics, access and work permits.
  • You will identify and resolve bottlenecks between different parties.
  • You will ensure that work proceeds safely, in a structured manner and according to plan.
  • You will oversee compliance with safety, environmental and health and safety regulations on site and ensure the continuity of maintenance and service activities.
  • You will report on progress and any issues to the project team.

You are authorised to make operational decisions and to halt work when safety or quality is at risk.

What you bring to the role

For this role, we are looking for a Site Manager who can bring structure to a dynamic project environment. You are someone who maintains an overview when multiple tasks are taking place simultaneously and who can bring together different parties with clarity and natural leadership.

You communicate clearly with contractors, suppliers and project teams, make timely decisions when the situation demands it, and remain effective under pressure. With your organisational skills and practical approach, you ensure that safety, scheduling and quality are always guaranteed on site. You also have:

  • MBO-4 or HBO qualification (preferably in maritime, technical, logistics or project management).
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a coordinating or managerial role.
  • Experience in managing multiple suppliers and contractors.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience in operational planning and management.
  • Good command of Dutch and English.
What you can expect from us

At Slaapschepen, lines of communication are short, as we work as a small team. Everyone brings unique expertise to the table and is proactive. You will be offered an independent role with a great deal of responsibility, in which you will have the opportunity to shape your own work. We initially offer a 7-month contract; you will also benefit from attractive terms of employment, including:

  • A salary between €3,352.84 and €4,437.75 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience.
  • As an added benefit, we offer a 10% contribution scheme on top of your gross monthly salary, which you can use to save for your pension.
  • 25 days’ annual leave per year on a full-time basis and 8% holiday pay.
  • A 13th month’s salary and a bonus scheme.
  • An annual personal development budget and a monthly net contribution towards sports activities.

Recruitment agencies are asked not to contact us regarding this vacancy.
