Summary
The Accountant I is responsible for supporting general accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting under close supervision. This role assists in maintaining accurate and compliant financial records in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions- Prepare and post journal entries for routine transactions.
- Assist with monthly account reconciliations (bank, inventory, AP/AR).
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records and assist with depreciation schedules.
- Help gather documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist with inventory and cost tracking as needed.
- Perform basic financial data entry and reporting tasks.
- Basic understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; OR
- Associate's degree with 2+ years of general accounting experience.
- A combination of education and experience may meet the requirement.
Education and Experience
- Internship or entry-level experience in a manufacturing or product-based business.
- Experience with ERP systems (Quick Books, Net Suite, SAP, etc.).
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, and photocopiers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Employees are also expected to work at least one non-convention farm event a year and to work at the annual company convention.
Exact hour requirements can be reasonably modified as necessary for the business needs by the employee’s manager.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and occasionally lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused.
