PositionSummary
The Center Manager/Coach is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of a center, providing leadership as site administrator and instructional coach of a comprehensive high‑quality preschool and family service program. The position supervises and coaches 6‑11 teaching staff who provide services for approximately 49‑80 children and families. The role supports educational quality, achievement of school readiness goals, curriculum implementation, and positive child outcomes.
It monitors implementation and design of educational activities, works cooperatively with front‑line staff and coordinators, adheres to ELE policies and procedures and Head Start Performance Standards, monitors supply inventory and maintains a safe learning environment. It provides support and guidance to parents and volunteers. This position requires face‑to‑face work; telecommuting is not available.
Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 40+ hours per week; occasional evenings, summer work may be required.
- BA Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (official transcript required).
- Previous relevant experience teaching/supervising in a Head Start or preschool setting.
- Currently CLASS reliable or able to become reliable within 6 months.
- Currently Teaching Strategies Gold Interrater reliable or able to become reliable within 2 months.
- Official or unofficial transcript showing award dates of the degree.
- Bilingual in Spanish desirable; may be required depending on location.
- Handle/re‑redirect child challenging behaviors.
- Thorough knowledge of developmentally appropriate early childhood practices.
- Knowledge of software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Child Plus, Google Docs.
- Strong conflict resolution, team building, and communication skills.
- Translate theory into practice and coach adult learners.
- Recognize strengths of teaching staff and build supportive relationships.
- Complete detailed paperwork timely.
- Manage multiple tasks and develop solutions with limited supervision.
- Follow federal regulatory requirements and agency guidelines.
- Work independently and collaboratively with children, parents, staff, etc.
- Proficient in English, written and spoken.
- Must travel to classrooms by private vehicle; provide insurance proof every six months.
Salary: $27.79 per hour
