Compensation:
Non-contract, no benefits;
Hours a day: 5.5;
Hourly rate:
Untrained - Lane 5 $ 15.61, Trained - Lane 6 $ 16.62 (Employee may complete in‑district training to qualify for Lane
6).
The job of Instructional Paraprofessional is to support the instructional program within an assigned classroom, providing assistance with supervision, care, instruction of special‑needs students, implementation of instructional plans, behavior monitoring, and clerical support to teachers and staff.
Essential Functions- Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support classroom objectives and IEP goals.
- Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting students’ health needs.
- Administer tests, homework, make‑up work, etc. to support teachers in the classroom.
- Assist with data collection under the direction of the assigned teacher to monitor student progress.
- Assist students with self‑care activities (e.g., toileting, washing, changing diapers, eating, dressing, grooming) to maintain personal hygiene.
- Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments and reinforce learning concepts to help students reach academic goals and grade‑level standards.
- Attend job‑specific trainings and meetings (e.g., first aid, behavior management) to acquire information related to job functions.
- Communicate with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel to evaluate progress and implement IEP/504 objectives.
- Model appropriate social and interpersonal behavior for students.
- Implement behavioral plans identified in student IEPs under teacher supervision.
- Maintain instructional materials, electronic files, and classroom equipment to ensure availability and compliance with requirements.
- Monitor students during assigned periods in various school settings to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Perform clerical duties (e.g., screening phone calls, distributing materials, maintaining inventories) to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide instruction to students in individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives and implement IEP/504 plans.
- Report observations and incidents related to specific students to appropriate instructional and administrative personnel.
- Supervise and escort students to/from classes to provide a safe learning environment.
- Age 16 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete mandatory employee training within the first three months of employment.
