JOB SUMMARY:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing engaging, effective, and scalable learning solutions that drive performance and business results. Working as part of the Instructional Design, Technology & Enablement team, this role partners closely with learning consultants, subject matter experts, Talent Business Partners and business stakeholders to analyze needs, design meaningful learning experiences, and develop high-quality instructional materials.
This role requires a blend of consulting mindset and creative design skills— someone equally comfortable asking great questions to clarify business needs and crafting high-quality learning content. The Instructional Designer plays a critical role in creating learner-centered experiences that align with strategic goals and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Learning Design & Development
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging learning solutions that address identified performance and skill gaps.
- Apply instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and other learning best practices across modalities (eLearning, instructor-led, virtual, blended, microlearning, and performance support).
- Create detailed design documentation for all phases of the design process.
- Develop digital learning solutions using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, and/or similar authoring software.
- Collaborate with other designers to integrate graphics, video, and interactivity into learning solutions.
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality, accessibility, and brand standards.
- Partner with other members of the Instructional Design, Technology & Enablement team, Talent Business Partners, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to clarify learning needs, target audiences, and success measures.
- Translate business needs and learning objectives into actionable design strategies and creative learning solutions.
- Recommend learning modalities and approaches that balance impact, scalability, and efficiency.
- Support project scoping and estimation by identifying appropriate levels of effort and resources required.
- Participate in feedback cycles and continuous improvement of learning programs.
- Evaluate the impact of learning solutions using data, learner feedback, and performance outcomes.
- Stay current with trends in learning technology, design thinking, and instructional innovation.
- Experiment with new tools, methods, and media to enhance engagement and efficiency.
- Contribute to the evolution of team standards, templates, and best practices.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience designing and developing learning experiences in a corporate or professional environment.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and modern learning modalities and practices.
- Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe, etc).
- Experience designing instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning solutions.
- Experience navigating and balancing the needs of the stakeholders and the learners.
- Excellent communication, writing, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in consulting with business leaders or stakeholders to analyze learning needs.
- Familiarity with video production, graphic design, or multimedia editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia).
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Experience with LMS/LRS platforms and xAPI data.
- Exposure to agile or iterative design methodologies.
- Professional certification (ATD, IDOL, PMP, or similar) a plus.
- Delivery of high-quality, learner-centered solutions that meet intended goals and timelines.
- Strong partnerships with other members of the Instructional Design, Technology & Enablement team, Talent Business Partners, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders.
- Clear alignment of learning solutions to business outcomes and audience needs.
- Demonstrated growth in consulting, analysis, and/or design expertise.
- Contribution to a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing learning team culture.
