Join Pure Storage as a Member of Technical Staff, Infrastructure Shared Services. This role focuses on automating storage management and ensuring storage reliability by working with the datacenter teams.
Role OverviewPure Storage is seeking an IT professional with strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills to assist in automating the storage management process. As part of the Storage reliability team, you will work closely with the datacenter operations team to provide automation and support, ensuring that storage is validated and reliable. As an autonomous, proactive individual, you will take initiative and demonstrate leadership, representing the Infrastructure and Shared Services (ISS) team.
WhatYou'll Do
- Strong hands‑on working knowledge of Linux and Python
- Understanding of networking and storage infrastructure
- Manage your Jira ticket queue, troubleshoot hardware failure issues, apply repair steps, and validate hardware for production return
- Identify code‑related problems in the validation process and create tickets for the appropriate team to implement fixes
- Communicate extensively with datacenter operations teams to resolve hardware issues
- Deploy, troubleshoot, repair, and ensure the server fleet operates at maximum capacity; proactively monitor data storage utilization, I/O capacities, and alerts
- Create monitors for existing data stores
- Be on call during business hours for storage‑related alerts and escalations
- Review code for bugs, implement resolutions where feasible, and create tickets in Service Now and Jira
- Maintain and contribute technical documentation, troubleshooting manuals, and run books in an internal wiki
- Continuously review, learn, and understand internal services and tools that apply to IT workflows
- Provide mentoring and training to the DC Operations team when needed
- Familiar experience with hardware from vendors like Cisco, Brocade, and Supermicro
- Resourceful and problem‑solving aptitude
- Scripting is desirable in Python or Ansible programming
- Primarily an in‑office environment in Utah (subject to PTO, travel, or approved leave)
- Basic knowledge of Pure Storage products such as Flash Array and Flash Blade
- Familiar with automated booting in a Linux environment
- Experience with automation tools (Jenkins, Docker, etc.)
- Familiarity with the Google suite (Sheets, Docs)
- Experience with VMWare/ESXi
- Computer Science or Computer Hardware Engineering education, or at least five years in the industry
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, self‑starter
- Open to constructive criticism
- Ability to explain complicated hardware issues, configurations, and BIOS settings
- Fantastic problem‑solving skills, especially related to server hardware
- Ability to take ownership of issues and follow them to resolution
- Proven experience as an SRE, Dev Ops engineer, or similar role
Annual Base Salary Range: $101,000 – $152,000 USD
Potential incentive pay and/or equity may be available.
