Systems Administrator, IT Infrastructure
Travel:25–40% (concentrated during acquisition integration windows; travel to operating sites, hauling yards, transfer stations, and newly acquired companies)
About Elevate Recycling and Disposal ServicesElevate Recycling and Disposal Services is a growth-oriented waste collection and disposal platform building scale through acquisition. We bring acquired companies onto a common operating standard while continuing to expand our base business. As our IT footprint grows with each acquisition, we need a hands‑on administrator who can both keep the core business running smoothly and lead the technical work of folding new companies into our environment.
PositionSummary
The IT Systems Administrator owns the day‑to‑day technology operations of the base business and serves as the technical lead for integrating acquired companies onto Elevate’s standard IT stack. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role for someone comfortable wearing multiple hats — one week may be spent hardening the network and supporting drivers and dispatchers, the next conducting IT discovery at a newly acquired hauler and planning the migration of their email, accounting, and routing systems.
Success means a secure, reliable, standardized IT environment across every Elevate location, old and new.
Base Business Operations & Infrastructure
- Administer core platforms including Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace, identity and access management (Entra / Active Directory), and endpoint management (MDM).
- Manage and support all end‑user hardware — laptops, desktops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals — across corporate offices and field locations.
- Maintain network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, VPN, Wi‑Fi, ISP/connectivity) across offices, hauling yards, and transfer stations, including multi‑site connectivity.
- Provide responsive help desk and end‑user support; triage, document, and resolve tickets; build basic self‑service and knowledge resources.
- Own backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes, including regular testing.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity fundamentals: patching, MFA, endpoint protection (EDR), email security, access reviews, and employee security‑awareness practices.
- Support business and operational software, including waste‑industry systems such as routing/dispatch and hauling management software, ELD/telematics, scale‑house/weighbridge systems, billing, and accounting, and VoIP / phone systems.
- Manage IT vendors, licenses, renewals, and asset inventory; control IT spend and recommend cost‑effective solutions.
Acquisition Integration (M&A) — Expected cadence: 4–6 acquisitions per year (minimum)
- Conduct IT due diligence and discovery at target and newly acquired companies — inventorying systems, hardware, contracts, licenses, connectivity, and security posture.
- Build and execute integration plans to migrate acquired companies onto Elevate’s standard stack (email/identity, file storage, accounting, routing/billing systems, and security controls).
- Lead data migrations from legacy hauling, billing, and accounting platforms into platform‑standard systems with minimal disruption to operations.
- Standardize and refresh acquired hardware; establish reliable connectivity at new sites; decommission redundant or end‑of‑life systems.
- Onboard acquired employees to corporate systems, accounts, devices, and security policies.
- Consolidate duplicate vendors and contracts; document the integrated environment.
- Build repeatable playbooks and runbooks so each successive integration is faster and more consistent than the last.
- 3–5+ years of hands‑on systems administration experience, ideally in a multi‑site or fast‑changing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of…
