Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.

Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.

Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.

Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.

Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.

Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.

Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.

Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel important and appreciated.

Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.

Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.

Notify management of customer or employee accidents.

Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.

Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.

Perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
