The Security Officer ensures that the healthcare enterprise remains a safe place. Respond rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. Is responsible for documenting all incidents and requests for assistance within the hospital reporting platform. Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned site, preserves order, and enforces regulations and policies when assistance is requested by medical staff or employees.

The security officer supports Common Spirit Health’s strategic plan and the goals of quality improvement and process improvement activities. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with Common Spirit Health core values and Human kindness.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, or law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.

• BLS-CPR from the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment
• International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment
• Auto:
  
  CA and DRVDMV within 30 days if a company vehicle or golf cart is required for the position

• Familiar with duties and responsibilities of a security officer
• Ability to properly use assigned equipment and follow established policies and procedures
• Completes IC 100HCb, 200b, & 700a training courses within 90 days of hire
• Maintains all other required training and certifications thereafter while employed by Common Spirit Health
• Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing

Medium Work – (Exert up to 50 lbs force occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly). This is a Part‑Time position; some weekends and holidays will be required.
