What You’ll Do

Here at Gabb, we are passionate about creating safe tech for kids. However, we are equally as passionate about empowering parents while they parent in this digital age. The Gabb Family team is innovating a new, central, revamped application where parents can manage their account, their children’s devices, and be the portal to all things Gabb.

We are looking for aSenior Android Developer to join our team to help Gabb build apps and system services in or on top of AOSP and Android. If you’re someone who is passionate about building reliable and intuitive experiences for end users this is the job for you! Your responsibilities on the team will include…

Your responsibilities on the team will include:

• Contribute to all phases of the software engineering lifecycle
• Understand Android device security and implement secure signing
• Gather requirements, plan project scope, system testing, prototyping and troubleshooting existing system and future systems
• Implement features of automation and tools for overall development efficiency
• Create and maintain a scalable set of build, test, and deploy jobs
• Re-architect Android build systems and scripts to improve efficiency in build times
• Ensure the infrastructure is secure, recoverable and maintained, and highly automated

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related emphasis
• 5+ years of Android development experience
• Proficient in Android development tools such as Android Studio, Jetpack Compose, Maven, Gradle, etc.
• Well-rounded experience in mobile languages (Kotlin and Java)
• Experience with CI pipelines (Bitbucket or other)
• Working knowledge or willingness to dive into uncommon areas of Android mobile development (AOSP, system-level control plane, dialers, launchers, accelerometers, NFC, Android Boot loader, Android HIDL, HAL)
• Working knowledge of embedded systems and utilizing private framework APIs
