Position Overview

Are you looking to start or advance your career in construction inspections, compliance, and safety? We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Building Inspector I to perform on-site inspections, verify code compliance, and ensure safe and high-quality construction practices. As a Building Inspector I, you will gain hands‑on experience with building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards, ensuring that construction projects meet all regulatory requirements. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers, conducting field inspections, documenting findings, and providing guidance to ensure compliance with industry and legal standards. This position is ideal for a proactive and detail-focused professional looking to build a long‑term career in construction inspection and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and job site regulations, ensuring compliance with OSHA, UES, and client‑specific safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform Structural Building Inspection duties (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) as licensed.
  • Document and report inspection findings with detailed observations, diagrams, photos, and compliance recommendations, ensuring accuracy and clarity for internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Identify and communicate code violations and non‑compliance issues, providing clear guidance and corrective action recommendations to contractors, engineers, and project managers.
  • Perform follow‑up inspections as required, verifying that corrective actions have been implemented and final compliance is achieved.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, permits, and engineering reports to verify compliance with approved designs, geotechnical findings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with field supervisors and dispatching teams, providing real‑time updates on job status, locations, and any site‑specific concerns.
  • Assist in reviewing permit applications and project documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy before inspections.
  • Stay up to date with evolving building codes, safety regulations, construction material standards, and industry best practices, participating in ongoing training and certification programs as needed.
  • Travel to project sites as required, often across varying terrains and environmental conditions, to conduct inspections and provide technical assessments.
  • Operate and maintain a company‑assigned motor vehicle, performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as needed to ensure reliability for fieldwork.
  • Be available to work flexible shifts, including varying schedules, weekends, and evenings, as required to meet project demands and client needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals and company initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; active Building Inspector License is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or plans examination (such as ICC or equivalent) are preferred or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
