Role OverviewThe Assistant Manager – Accounting will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, primarily within the financial services sector. The role involves the preparation and review of statutory and management reporting, oversight of work performed by junior team members, and the application of strong technical accounting knowledge.
The successful candidate willdemonstratestrong attention to detail, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced, professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting, including cash flow forecasts, budgets,and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review annual and interim financial statementsin accordance with
IFRS, UK GAAP, and other relevantgenerally acceptedaccounting standards. - Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in agreed client formats and within established reporting timelines.
- Produce financial information for inclusion in board and committee reporting packs, as required.
- Perform review and quality assurance of work prepared by other members of the team, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to professional standards.
- Apply and interpret a broad range of accounting standards, providing technical input and guidance where required.
- Draft technical accounting papers addressing accounting treatments, judgements, and the impact of new or amended accounting standards.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on general accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Experience supporting month-end and period-end close processes, including the preparation of recurring management accounts.
- Experience of working in the offshore financial services sector as a preference.
- Prior experience in a professional service, audit, or accounting advisory environment.
- Exposure to preparing technical accounting memoranda or advisory-style papers.
- Experience providing guidance, review, or informal supervision to junior team members.
- Prior experience infinancialservices is desirable.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degreein Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Qualified/Pursingaccountant and member of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g. ACCA,CAor ICAEW).
- Strong technical accounting experience, with demonstrableexpertisein IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Proven experience within the financial services sector.
- Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience reviewing work prepared by others and providing clear, constructive feedback.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a consistent focus on delivering high-quality outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to structure work logically and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a high standard of ethical conduct.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software is desirable(e.g., Quick Books, Xero, SAP, or similar).
- Advanced knowledge of Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
