An established and personable independent accountancy practice based in Rayleigh is looking to appoint a Semi Senior Accountant to support its growing portfolio of SME clients. The firm works closely with owner‑managed businesses across a variety of sectors, providing hands‑on financial support and tailored advice. This is a varied, client‑facing position offering exposure across accounts preparation, tax compliance and day‑to‑day finance operations, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their practical experience within practice.

• Preparing management accounts for a portfolio of small and medium‑size businesses.
• Completing bookkeeping assignments and submitting VAT returns.
• Processing payroll and assisting with workplace pension administration.
• Preparing personal tax returns.
• Supporting the preparation of budgets and cashflow forecasts.
• Reviewing and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records.
• Using cloud‑based and desktop accounting software to produce accurate financial reports.
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide day‑to‑day financial guidance.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Studying towards, or completed, AAT Level 4.
• Working knowledge of software such as Sage and Xero.
• Sound understanding of core accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident communicator with a professional and proactive approach.
