Job Description & How to Apply Below

Introduction

This is a genuinely varied role, giving the successful apprentice the opportunity to learn how different parts of a real business work together. You will work across administration, customer service, sales, stock control, accounts and trademark and copyright administration. No two days are the same, and full training will be provided.

About the Employer

Alchemy England is an established British design and manufacturing business, creating distinctive jewellery, gifts and home décor inspired by gothic culture, music, mythology, the mystical and the unusual. Established in 1977, our iconic jewellery is designed and handmade in England using fine English pewter and traditional techniques. We sell to retailers and customers around the world.

We're a little different from a traditional office environment. Our products are rooted in gothic, alternative, rock and metal, fantasy, mythology, the mystical and the unusual. An affinity with alternative or gothic culture and an appreciation of what we do would be a real advantage, as it will help you understand our products, our brand and our customers.

What You'll Do
  • Use our CRM and stock management systems, maintaining accurate records and carrying out data input
  • Respond to and contact customers, process returns and follow up customer queries
  • Process new trade enquiries, contact prospective wholesale customers and follow up enquiries to support the sales team
  • Assist with the Accounts department, including simple cash books, data entry and general financial administration
  • Support Trademark & Copyright administration, including using our copyright system to help identify potentially fake or unauthorised products and maintaining relevant records
  • Assist in the stockroom with picking and packing, checking and organising goods, refilling shelves and supporting stock checks
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records, filing and organising information so that it is easy to find
  • Provide general administrative support across the business and help with projects and tasks as required

This is an apprenticeship, so we are not expecting you to know how to do everything already. We are much more interested in your attitude, potential and willingness to learn. We are looking for:

  • A confident communicator who can communicate clearly with colleagues, customers and external contacts
  • Good written English and a clear, professional approach to emails and other correspondence
  • Not afraid to ask questions when something is unclear, and able to listen and learn from the answers
  • Good common sense and the ability to think things through rather than simply waiting to be told what to do
  • Able to use initiative while recognising when it is important to ask for help
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage different tasks and priorities
  • A keen eye for detail and a naturally accurate approach to data, records and paperwork
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new software and business systems
  • Happy to work across different departments and equally comfortable with desk-based administration and practical stockroom work
  • A positive team player who is willing to get stuck in and help wherever needed
Training Outcome
  • It is hoped but not guaranteed that after this apprenticeship a full offer of employment will be given
