OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Business Development Director to lead and expand our Energy Services offering within the Facilities Management sector. The role focuses on identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and driving revenue growth through energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainability services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a business development strategy to grow the energy services portfolio.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across OCS’s customer base and key sectors.
- Lead the end‑to‑end sales process from lead generation to solution development and contract close.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, internal OCS stakeholders and industry partners.
- Understand client needs and tailor energy solutions that align with their sustainability and operational goals.
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to design and price bespoke energy solutions (e.g., renewable energy solutions, smart building technologies).
- Develop compelling proposals, presentations and commercial models to ensure successful outcomes for customers and OCS.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes and competitor activity to inform strategy.
- Champion innovation in energy services, including digital technologies and net‑zero pathways.
- Work cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, commercial and legal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior business development staff as needed.
- In‑depth understanding of energy services, energy performance contracting and Net Zero within the FM and built environment sectors.
- Familiarity with UK energy policy, carbon reduction targets and funding mechanisms (including grant and 3rd‑party funding).
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Proficient in CRM systems, proposal writing and financial modelling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management or a related field.
