An established UK manufacturer of high quality sealants, adhesives, building chemicals, and construction products is expanding its commercial leadership team. Supplying both national and independent merchants across the country, the organisation is known for its innovation, reliability, and strong customer focus - and is now accelerating growth within several strategic categories, including Roofing.
Job DescriptionTo support this next stage of expansion, we are seeking a Head of Key Accounts - Roofing - a high impact, commercially driven leader who will shape national account strategy, build key partnerships, and play a defining role in long term commercial success. This is a senior, autonomous position responsible for managing major national merchants, buying groups, and strategic partners. You will take full ownership of key account relationships, drive commercial performance across the portfolio, and open new opportunities with high value customers.
The role begins as an independent leadership position
, offering complete scope to set direction, influence strategy, and build relationships - with a clear pathway to build and lead a team as the division grows. A major focus will involve expanding presence within the Roofing category
, working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to strengthen market position and identify new commercial pathways.
- Manage and grow relationships with national merchants, buying groups, and key distribution partners.
- Deliver commercial plans, negotiate strategic agreements, and drive long term partnerships.
- Grow category presence and increase share of wallet within priority accounts.
- Lead the organisation's commercial strategy within the Roofing sector.
- Identify new opportunities, strengthen distribution, and grow product presence.
- Use market and category insight to influence product development and positioning.
- Win new accounts and engage high value customers across the UK.
- Re‑energise previously approached prospects and identify new strategic leads.
- Benchmark market dynamics to ensure the business remains front of mind with key partners.
- Operate as a senior individual contributor initially, with potential to build a team as the division scales.
- Develop commercial processes, reporting frameworks, and best in class account management practices.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, R&D, and Product teams.
- Provide customer and market intelligence to support business planning and innovation.
What We're Looking For
- Experience managing national accounts or buyer groups within construction, building products, or a related sector.
- Strong relationships or experience working with major national merchants (e.g., large trade businesses or buyer groups).
- Experience with in the Roofing category is highly advantageous.
- Experience dealing with Contractors, Architects, Specifiers on Specification projects
- A proven commercial leader with a track record of driving growth and winning strategic customers.
- Strong negotiation skills and confidence managing senior level agreements.
- Willingness to travel the UK
- A driven individual who would be open to growing a team once established.
