About the RoleA quality focused housing developer seeks a freelance Site Manager to oversee a new build housing development in Leicestershire for a two-week period. The successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring that all activities run smoothly, safely, and within programme. This role requires a proactive approach to managing personnel, resources, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality homes on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate and supervise all site activities to ensure efficient progress and adherence to the programme.
- Manage and monitor subcontractors and suppliers to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Ensure all site operations comply with health and safety legislation and company policies, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to maintain build standards and resolve any issues promptly.
- Maintain clear and accurate daily records of site activities, progress reports, and any incidents.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Oversee the management of materials and equipment, ensuring availability and correct use to support site operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental controls and waste management procedures on site.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of method statements, risk assessments, and site documentation as required.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Proven experience managing traditional new build housing projects on site.
- Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practises within the house building sector.
- Experience working to construction programmes and managing subcontractors effectively.
- Strong leadership and site management skills with the ability to motivate and coordinate teams.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to construction sites.
- Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and site plans.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate site records and reports.
- This role requires full-time hours on site, typically Monday to Friday, with possible requirements for early starts or extended hours to meet project deadlines.
- The site is located in Rearsby, Leicestershire, and candidates should be able to travel to this location reliably.
- Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions and involves regular walking, standing, and site inspections.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times on site.
- The role may involve handling challenging situations requiring prompt decision-making and practical problem-solving skills.
