Our client is a well-established, growing building contractor based in Leicestershire. They deliver projects across the healthcare, education and commercial sectors, including specialist healthcare schemes for clients across the UK. Much of their work comes from repeat clients, giving a steady flow of opportunities to price.
The roleOur client is looking for an Estimator to price a varied mix of healthcare, education and commercial projects. You'll be someone who can turn a pile of drawings and a tight deadline into an accurate, competitive tender, without breaking a sweat. The role is pitched at intermediate level, with flexibility for more senior candidates with the right experience.
What you'll be doing- Preparing accurate, competitive tenders from enquiry to submission
- Measuring and taking off quantities from drawings and specifications
- Building up rates and pricing preliminaries
- Sending out subcontractor and supplier enquiries and analysing returns
- Identifying risks and preparing clarifications, assumptions and exclusions
- Supporting value engineering and budget pricing for clients
- Handing over successful tenders to the commercial and delivery teams
- Building strong relationships with the supply chain
- Estimating experience with a building contractor
- Healthcare and/or commercial project experience is a strong advantage
- Experience pricing refurbishment and fit-out work, including in live environments, would be useful
- Accurate measurement and strong attention to detail
- Confident using estimating/take-off software and Excel
- Able to manage several tenders and deadlines at once
- Relevant qualification in QS, Construction or similar (preferred)
- Up to £55,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for senior candidates
