Overview

We are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a newly established, nurse-led residential mental health service supporting adults with complex and enduring mental health needs.

This is an opportunity to play a central role in shaping and developing a new service model within a psychologically informed, recovery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Take overall clinical responsibility for a defined caseload

Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, complex risk reviews and CPA meetings

Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983

Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, formulation and evidence-based treatment

Oversee referral, admission and discharge pathways

Ensure robust risk management, safeguarding and continuity of care

Provide clinical leadership, supervision and teaching

Contribute to audit, governance and service development

Essential Criteria

CCT (or equivalent) in Psychiatry

Full GMC registration with licence to practise

Approved Clinician status

Experience acting as Responsible Clinician

Substantial experience managing complex mental health presentations

Strong knowledge of NICE guidance and UK mental health legislation

Demonstrable clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams

The Role

You will hold clinical responsibility for a defined caseload, act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act, and provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include leading ward rounds, risk reviews and CPA meetings, overseeing admission and discharge pathways, and contributing to governance and service development.

Requirements

CCT in Psychiatry (or equivalent)

Full GMC registration with licence to practise

Approved Clinician status

Experience working with complex mental health presentations

Strong understanding of NICE guidance and UK mental health legislation

Proven leadership within inpatient or residential services
