Job overviewConsultant in Stroke Medicine
This is an exciting opportunity to join our welcoming and friendly team within the department of Stroke Medicine. As part of our strategy to improve stroke inpatient care, we are seeking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our team who share in our ethos to deliver excellent patient care.
The successful applicant will provide and support an outpatient and in‑patient service within the Trust.
The Stroke Department currently covers 2 Stroke wards at LRI which incorporates a higher‑level receiving area referred to as the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit; along with a separate Acute Stroke Unit,and affiliated Stroke Rehabilitation Units.
Main duties of the job- To provide senior clinical decision making on a Stroke Ward designed for patients not appropriate for immediate discharge or transfer. This will include consultant ward rounds & board rounds
- To partake in the out of hours Stroke Consultant Rota.
- To supervise and train junior medical staff.
- To ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care as described in the GMC Guidance ‘Duties of a Doctor’ are followed at all times; and that suboptimal practices are reviewed, with appropriate personal and team feedback and reflections for improvement.
