The closing date is 03 April 2026
The benefits of a UK fellowship trainee include expanded exposure to salivary gland pathology and surgical management of oral cancer. The candidate will be offered advanced training and hands‑on exposure to all aspects of Maxillofacial Surgery, including (but not limited to) surgical head and neck oncology.
Main duties of the jobPrincipal elements of the post will be carried out within the Maxillofacial Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary NHS Trust. The department is busy and expanding, providing the full range of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services in Leicestershire for a population of over one million. It receives a large volume of routine oral surgical referrals and maxillofacial trauma. Special interests include Head and Neck Oncology, Oral and Facial Reconstruction, Facial Deformity (including cleft lip and palate problems), and Oral and Craniofacial Implants.
The fellow will work closely with the consultants mentioned above and with the Head and Neck consultant team. Mentoring will cover patient management, decision‑making protocols, contemporary management, and surgical techniques such as tumour ablation and neck dissection. A two‑week period will be spent with the Head and Neck oncologists at the LRI.
Critically, the service also provides the full scope of maxillofacial surgery, such as deformity, trauma, salivary gland surgery, and oral surgery. The abundant volume and variety of maxillofacial pathology will be attractive to the fellow.
