About the Role

Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, shaping school culture and driving excellence across PSHE, wellbeing and careers education. You will design, lead and embed a high-quality personal development offer that meets the diverse needs of our students and prepares them for life beyond school.

You will combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership – inspiring staff, analysing impact, strengthening safeguarding practice and ensuring our provision is ambitious, inclusive and future-focused.

As Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development, Wellbeing and Careers, you will:

Lead and innovate our whole-school approach to personal development, wellbeing and careers education

Embed careers and personal development across the curriculum, ensuring relevance, progression and aspiration for all learners

Champion high-quality teaching and learning, supporting staff through coaching, CPD, lesson observations and learning walks

Use data intelligently, working with the Deputy Headteacher to track progress, evaluate impact and report effectively to governors

Serve as Designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring safeguarding is robust, proactive and embedded in daily practice

Shape policy and practice, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and best practice in PSHE/RSE, wellbeing and careers

Lead social and emotional development, supporting SEND processes, EHCPs and personalised pathways for students

Strengthen partnerships with parents, carers, external agencies, employers and the wider community

Inspire and develop staff, modelling high expectations, collaboration and a strong commitment to professional growth

Strategic Leadership

You will work closely with the Headteacher and SLT to:

Drive the school’s vision, values and improvement priorities

Lead and evaluate key areas of the school improvement plan

Support performance management, staff deployment and succession planning

Ensure resources are used effectively to maximise impact and value for money

Represent the school confidently to governors, inspectors and external partners

Who We’re Looking For

You are:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

At least 5 years teaching experience

A values-driven leader with a strong moral purpose

Passionate about student wellbeing, inclusion and aspiration

An excellent communicator who can motivate, challenge and inspire

Confident using data to inform strategy and improvement
