Overview
We are pleased to share several secondment opportunities designed to strengthen leadership capacity within our Education Team. These roles will make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of our Trust-wide curriculum. We are seeking highly effective colleagues from across Discovery to lead on a number of priority areas. Each role will be offered as a one-year secondment in the first instance.
Successful applicants will continue to teach in their current schools, with release time agreed with the headteacher to enable them to carry out responsibilities across the Trust. About the Role:
The EYFS Lead leads and develops the Discovery Trust's EYFS approach across all primary schools, with a strong emphasis on high-quality early provision, inclusive practice and strong foundations for learning. Operating as a secondment from a teaching post, the role works closely with the Education Team and is accountable to senior Trust leadership. The postholder will support and guide EYFS provision trust-wide, provide targeted and timely support where need is identified, and ensure that the Trust values of belonging, equity and ambition are embedded in all aspects of early years practice.
- Lead Trust-wide development and implementation of the Discovery Trust EYFS Approach, aligned to the EYFS statutory framework.
- Promote high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across all areas of learning, with a strong focus on communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and early literacy and maths.
- Provide rapid and targeted support for schools where EYFS provision or outcomes are identified as a concern.
- Support leaders to develop coherent EYFS curriculum intent, implementation and impact.
- Lead professional development focused on effective EYFS pedagogy, observation, assessment and inclusive practice.
- Facilitate Trust-wide moderation of EYFS assessment, including baseline, ongoing assessment and EYFSP.
- Expert knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and effective early years pedagogy.
- Secure understanding of child development and inclusive practice in the early years.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted (and SIAMs) expectations relating to EYFS and early provision.
- Strong understanding of systems that underpin effective EYFS practice, including curriculum planning, assessment, intervention and transition into KS1.
- Ability to lead the development, implementation and review of EYFS policies and procedures across the Trust, ensuring statutory compliance and inclusive practice.
