1 day per week (approximately 5 hours / school day), term time only – across the academic year (38 weeks)

Fixed term for 1 Academic Year

The role

This is a rare opportunity for an oboe specialist to build and grow a new music provision across schools. You will deliver engaging lessons, lead demonstrations, and inspire pupils to take up the oboe, with the freedom to shape the role and increase hours as interest develops.

Job details
  • Initial contract: 1 day per week (approximately 5 hours / school day), across the academic year (38 weeks)
  • Salary paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
  • Payment reflects the full working day (not just teaching/contact time), including planning, travel, and development work
  • Travel between schools is included within working time, plus a 55p per mile allowance

Qualifications
  • Qualification or experience demonstrating a high level of musical understanding, awareness, and proficiency in your area of specialism (e.g. music technology, instrumental etc); experience of performing, creating or facilitating music at a high level
  • Inspiring and motivational, with the ability to build confidence and enthusiasm in learners
  • Passionate about ensemble music‑making and developing young musicians in group settings
  • Forward‑thinking and adaptable, committed to high‑quality inclusive music education
  • Experience of developing and adapting resources to respond to learner interest and needs, offering a level of challenge and independence appropriate to age, ability, capacity, and context
  • Skilled in teaching beginners through to developing players, supporting clear progression; organised, reliable, and an excellent communicator with students, families and colleagues
