Position: Deputy Chief Flight Instructor (DCFI)

We are looking for an experienced pilot to join our Training Team in the role of Deputy Chief Flight Instructor (DCFI). Reporting to the Chief Flight Instructor, the DCFI is responsible for the day‑to‑day oversight of flight and synthetic flight training delivered at our Gloucester Academy.

The role requires adherence to established procedures, while also allowing the flexibility to adapt and innovate in response to operational needs. A strong emphasis is placed on quality, with a continuous focus on process improvement and delivering an exceptional training experience throughout the trainee journey.

This position is worked 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work when required.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Chief Flight Instructor with their responsibilities as and when requested by them.
  • Attending the internal training meetings.
  • Ensuring that their flying qualifications are current.
  • Acting as an instructor and/or examiner, when required dependent upon availability.
  • Conducting administration and other duties that directly support the role of the CFI.
Requirements
  • Hold a current UK CAA CPL or ATPL and if required EASA CPL or ATPL.
  • Hold a current UK CAA Class 1 Medical and if required EASA Class 1 Medical.
  • Hold a current UK CAA unrestricted Flight Instructor Certificate with CPL, Multi engine and instrument instructional privileges. EASA equivalent either native or FCL.
    900(c) would be beneficial and may need to be obtained.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to motivate and encourage staff, to deal effectively with internal and external contacts ranging from executive to administrative levels.
  • Demonstrable record of leadership in a management role.
  • Extensive experience in training as an instructor for professional pilots license.
  • No aircraft accident or aviation violation convictions.
  • Ability to concentrate and work in a fast‑paced environment.
