Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and committed Safeguarding and Compliance Officer to join our Education Effectiveness service area within Children and Families Services. The role will deliver training and support for safeguards in education settings.

Responsibilities
  • Develop awareness of safeguarding and child protection processes in schools, central services and other educational settings (e.g. Further Education Colleges).
  • Maintain and deliver a programme for child protection/safeguarding in education training.
  • Co‑ordinate, schedule, advertise and organise the safeguarding training programme.
  • Ensure courses are evaluated and the Safeguarding and Compliance Lead is supported to adapt as required.
  • Contribute to initiatives to strengthen safeguarding, such as E‑safety, work‑related learning and compliance with safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Liaise with Business Support and work with the Safeguarding and Compliance Lead to ensure actions are on‑track when delivering training.
  • Maintain close contact with other Safeguarding Unit staff and contribute to general service activity.
Qualifications
  • Degree or higher education (e.g. GNVQ Level 4/5) or relevant professional development that demonstrates analytical and critical evaluation skills.
  • Working knowledge of child protection/safeguarding for children and young people in Education, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.
  • Experience in inter‑agency working to support children and families within educational settings, with knowledge of child protection guidance, processes and issues, and the ability to adapt flexibly to changing demands.
  • Independent, initiative‑driven and able to travel both within and beyond Leicestershire.
  • Ability to manage sensitive issues diplomatically and with tact, applying knowledge of statutory education policy and procedure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills; energetic, well‑motivated, flexible and professional.

Salary: £32,070 – £34,359 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time).

Working hours:

37 hours per week.

Contract:

Permanent.

County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester (LE3 8RA
). Closing date: 8th July 2026.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
