Salary: Grade 7 Pay Point 11-14 (£26,832 - £28,146 per annum, approximate starting salary of £21,095.26 per annum)

Hours: 34 Hours per week; 39 Weeks per year (Term time only plus INSET days)

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern:

Monday and Thursday: 08:20am to 16:00pm

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 08:20am to 15:10pm

Millgate School is looking for a caring, experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support learning in class. The role involves working alongside the class teacher and being a proactive member of the School Staff Team.

• Plan and provide specialist support to pupils with identified disabilities, SEN, sensory impairments and complex needs by modifying and adapting learning activities.
• Support the special education and personal/social wellbeing of pupils by adapting and differentiating activities under the direction of teachers or advisory staff.
• Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment using detailed specialist knowledge.
• Support parents and enable them to understand their children’s complex needs and give sound advice regarding their child’s education.
• Provide appropriate supervision to individuals or groups in a variety of settings, including school, pupil home environment or unit monitoring conduct and behaviour.

• NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification e.g. Teaching Assistant awards, English GCSE (A*-C), Level 2 Basic Skills Literacy, CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Child Care and Education

• Experience of working with children of the age group concerned with this post.

• Knowledge of child protection, health and safety procedures and their application in a school setting.
• Awareness of a range of frameworks that support the education, development and well-being of children.
• Knowledge & understanding of at least one area of learning, e.g. English, Maths, Science, SEN, Early Years, and KS 3 Strategy for literacy or numeracy.
