Teacher of Drama (Part-Time, Fixed Term for 1 Year)

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified Teacher of Drama to join our thriving Drama Department on a part-time fixed-term contract for one year. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner who is passionate about drama education and committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience across both the Prep and Senior Schools.

The successful candidate will be able to teach GCSE Drama and, ideally, A Level Drama and Theatre Studies, while contributing to the vibrant co-curricular life of the school.

Our successful Drama Department consists of:

• Head of Academic Drama
• Head of Co-Curricular Drama
• Teacher of English and Drama
• Theatre Manager (Set, Costume and Props)
• Senior School Technician (Lighting and Sound)

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver high-quality Drama teaching across the Prep and Senior Schools
• Teach GCSE Drama and Theatre Studies (Eduqas)
• Ideally teach A Level Drama and Theatre Studies
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students
• Monitor and assess student progress effectively
• Support students with a range of learning needs, including SEN and EAL pupils
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
• Promote high standards of behaviour, achievement and engagement
• Participate in the wider life of the school, including productions, clubs and enrichment activities
• Contribute to the pastoral care and wellbeing of pupils

At Key Stage 3, students benefit from small classes and a carefully structured curriculum designed to develop performance skills, creativity and confidence.

GCSE and A Level Drama follow the Eduqas Drama and Theatre Studies specifications, encompassing:

• Devised performance work
• Scripted performance
• Coursework portfolios
• Theatre practitioner studies
• Live theatre evaluation
• Written examinations

The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of assessment requirements and examination processes within Drama education.

Drama plays a central role in school life. Staff are encouraged to support and lead a wide range of activities, including:

• Good Honours Degree in Drama, Theatre Studies or a related subject
• Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
• Proven record of successful teaching or teaching practice
• Ability to teach GCSE Drama and Theatre Studies
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment practice
• Competence in ICT
• Experience leading or contributing to co-curricular activities
• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing and the ethos of the school

• Ability to teach A Level Drama and Theatre Studies
• Experience teaching Drama in KS2
• Experience contributing to schemes of work and curriculum development
• Understanding of the National Curriculum
• Experience organising productions and performance events
• Ability to teach Dance and/or Musical Theatre
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
