An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed Safeguarding and Compliance Officer to join our Education Effectiveness service area, as part of Children and Families Services. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to work with our Safeguarding in Education team to deliver our training and support for education settings.
The Safeguarding and Compliance Officer will play an integral role, as part of the Education Effectiveness Team, alongside settings working with children and young people, the LADO and social care in keeping all children safe and protected from harm or neglect.
Demonstrable knowledge and an understanding of safeguarding in education, social work and Keeping Children Safe in Education will be an advantage.
An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

- Degree, or higher education (eg GNVQ level 4/5), or relevant professional development or experience which would ensure powers of analysis and critical evaluation required to undertake the post. Evidence of further education and/or professional development, Or Demonstrable experience
- Have a working knowledge of child protection/safeguarding of children and young people in Education, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025. Have considerable experience of working with children and/or families.
- Substantial recent experience of working with schools and/or other related agencies, including dealing with difficult and sensitive issues and liaison with staff with significant organisational responsibilities.
- Recent and successful experience of the planning and delivery of training for a range of audiences. Be able to work independently and with initiative.
- Be able to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact, whilst applying knowledge of statutory education policy and procedure.
- Have a supportive and problem-solving approach when prioritising the safeguarding of children and young people within the statutory frameworks. Ability to influence change in policy and practice
- Have effective communication skills both verbal and written, including presentation skills, Be energetic, well‑motivated and flexible.
