Summary- The Employment Specialist (IAG Officer) plays a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive employability and progression service to young people and residents who encounter obstacles in accessing employment, education, and training opportunities. This position involves independently managing a caseload of participants, offering personalized Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG), and providing employability support and progression planning. The ultimate goal is to assist individuals in securing sustainable employment, education, or training outcomes.
- Oversee and manage a caseload of participants in need of employment, education, and training assistance.
- Conduct outreach and engagement activities to identify and connect with eligible participants.
- Perform assessments to determine participants' employment, skills, training, and support requirements.
- Create individualized action plans and progression pathways aligned with participants' goals and situations.
- Deliver one-on-one IAG to facilitate participants' entry into employment, education, and training.
- Provide practical support, including CV writing, job search strategies, application guidance, interview preparation, confidence building, and career planning.
- Assist participants in addressing disclosure issues and overcoming barriers to employment progression.
- Track participant progress and regularly update action plans to ensure ongoing development and achievement of objectives.
- Extensive experience in supporting individuals towards employment, education, training, apprenticeships, or work placements.
- Proven track record in delivering IAG, career support, employability, or skills-based interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a caseload and maintain precise case records.
- Professional qualification in one of the following areas:
- Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
- Careers Guidance
- Employment Support
- Education or Training
- Youth Support
- Community Development
- Contract Duration: 12 months with a local authority
- Working Hours:
35 hours per week - Interview:
Onsite 45-minute panel interview at Lewisham Civic Centre or Laurence House on 22nd September 2026 - Work Pattern:
Minimum of 3 days in the office or Lewisham community setting, with up to 2 days remote - Final date to receive applications: 11th September 2026, apply ASAP.
