Secondary SEN English Teacher

Are you an English specialist with experience supporting pupils with additional needs?

Teacher Active is working with specialist schools and alternative provisions in Leicester who are looking for confident and adaptable Secondary SEN English Teachers. This is a great opportunity for someone who can combine strong subject knowledge with a calm, patient and flexible approach.

You’ll be working with secondary-aged pupils who may have needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD or other additional learning needs, with some students working below age-related expectations.

The role may include:

Teaching English across KS3 and KS4
Delivering Functional Skills and Entry Level English where required
Adapting lessons to individual learning needs
Supporting pupils with SEND and behavioural needs
Developing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
Creating a calm, structured and engaging classroom environment
Tracking progress and providing clear feedback
Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
Using creative approaches to re-engage pupils with learning

We are looking for:

QTS or a recognised teaching qualification
Strong English subject knowledge
Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils
SEN, SEMH or alternative provision experience desirable
Confident behaviour management
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
Ability to differentiate work for a wide range of abilities
