Job Description:

We’re looking for a Product Manager for the Alignment & Level Metrology product line to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, the product manager will have a keen eye to identify gaps and opportunities in the A&L metrology market and an innovative mind to fulfil them. The role also requires a high level of technical capability; the product manager must be able to strategise the full lifecycle of product production from conception to release, defining and supporting the A&L metrology solutions to meet and exceed targets.

They should also be a confident leader with experience in guiding cross‑functional and international teams in the successful creation of A&L metrology products and relevant application information. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the growing Alignment and Level metrology group.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
  • Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development by engineering teams
  • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high‑level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI
  • Analyse market data to develop sales strategies, and define product objectives for effective marketing communications plans
  • Collaborate closely with R+D, production, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products
  • Support customer relations by hands‑on measurements on site at customers’ premises and demonstration of measurements on customer applications, data analysis and presentation of results
  • Track and ensure high standard of quality of A&L metrology products to be built and delivered to the customers
  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates Taylor Hobson instruments and their features across market segments by assessing competitors’ offerings
  • Develop and maintain accurate and relevant marketing material for new and existing products
  • Provide in‑depth product knowledge to support the sales team
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the market needs and requirements through excellent customer relations
Required Essential Skills
  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering or physics to degree level or through a proven track record in an associated discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in precision engineering or A&L metrology.
  • Good working knowledge of A&L manufacturing and metrology or similar discipline.
  • Good knowledge of the global market and competitive landscape of A&L metrology.
  • Strong ability to communicate to sales, R+D, operations, and management teams on all levels (internal and external, locally, and internationally).
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Enthusiastic and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Able to work independently with a self‑motivated self‑driven style.
  • Experience in a customer facing product support role.
  • Fluent English language (business level) in spoken word and writing.
  • Experience in product / project management preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of product usability and commercialization with appreciation of electronic, electrical and software design.
  • Experience of managing small, technical teams (locally and internationally).

Degree/Certification
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar discipline.
