About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Section Manager to support the delivery of the A511 scheme, with specific responsibility for the construction of a box tunnel beneath the Network Rail line. This is a pivotal role that sits under the Project Manager and involves close integration with the existing Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) team.

Given the complexity, specialist interfaces, and risk profile associated with rail-adjacent major civils works, this role is essential in ensuring safe planning, seamless coordination, and efficient execution as the project transitions from ECI into full construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop safe and efficient construction methodologies for complex rail-adjacent civils works.
  • Manage critical interfaces with Network Rail, ensuring compliance with standards, processes, and approvals.
  • Support HSEQ compliance, championing high safety standards across planning and delivery stages.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams to ensure the works are fully prepared for execution.
  • Oversee the safe design, installation, and construction activities aligned with integrated railway system requirements.
  • Ensure documentation, risk assessments, and work packages are completed to the required standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and oversight in relation to earthworks, structures, and temporary works.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience working in and around Network Rail assets and infrastructure, with a strong understanding of integrated rail systems and civils interfaces.
  • Strong background in managing safe design, construction, and installation within major infrastructure or rail settings.
  • Experience reflected in a Rail & Rail Systems Senior Engineer competency profile.
  • Ability to interpret and implement CDM, safety leadership, and temporary works requirements.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, especially in multi-stakeholder environments.
Mandatory Qualifications & Technical Requirements
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
  • CDM 2015 Awareness (Client and Principal Contractor responsibilities)
  • Safety leadership training specific to rail environments
