Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Sytner IT is looking for a skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team. You will play a key role in supporting a large and diverse server, network and cloud estate, delivering high quality third line support and helping to drive continual improvement across our technology platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical variety, ownership of complex problems and working within a fast-paced enterprise environment.
What You Will Do- Provide third line support across servers, networks, storage, backup and cloud platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and support major incidents
- Maintain VMware virtual environments, Windows Server, Active Directory and core Microsoft services
- Configure and support Cisco LAN, WLAN and WAN technologies
- Support patching, firmware updates and platform lifecycle management
- Automate repetitive tasks using Power Shell or other tooling
Contribute to infrastructure projects and help strengthen technical standards across the estate
- Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware and Microsoft 365 services
- Hands‑on ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco networking
- Good understanding of SAN storage, backups and disaster recovery principles
- Confident troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently
- Experience with Power Shell automation
- Exposure to cloud services such as Azure or AWS
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues at all levels
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, Microsoft, VMware or similar) are beneficial
- You stay focused when solving difficult technical problems and see issues through to resolution
- You look for ways to improve systems, processes and repeatable tasks
- You manage your workload effectively in a busy environment and stay ahead of deadlines
- You document clearly and keep stakeholders informed
- You deliver reliable, high-quality work and follow established processes
- You contribute positively to the team and maintain a high standard every day
