Overview:
Our client has almost half a century of expertise in designing, developing and manufacturing bespoke automation and robotic systems and is regarded as one of the UK’s leading automation system solution providers. Following continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are recruiting an experienced Engineering Project Manager to oversee the activities of a highly professional solutions division and lead the delivery of exciting special‑purpose machinery projects ranging from GBP
200k to GBP2m each.

• Manage the scope of all projects and control any deviations, communicating effectively with the customer at every stage and acting as the technical lead to ensure a consistent high standard of machine design through to delivery.
• Plan resources accurately to ensure projects can be completed successfully; create quotes and agree upgrades outside the scope as required.
• Manage the resolution of any issues that arise, plan appropriate aftersales support and ensure safe working practices are adhered to.
• Prepare relevant documentation and CE certification to present to the customer at handover.
• Maintain and update specifications, define and control budgets, complete project plans and attain design approval with full customer agreement.
• Lead internal design reviews to ensure the highest standards of machine design.
• Actively develop and drive product development and standardisation programmes across the portfolio of solutions.
• Complete IAT, FAT and SAT on every project machine.
• Approve and hand over mechanical and controls BOMs to the purchasing teams, agree dates, identify potential cost savings and ensure component requirements are clear and arrive on time for delivery and installation.

• Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
• Background that includes considerable exposure to PLC control software and multi‑axis robotic systems within any manufacturing environment.
