Installation and Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical Machine Build

From innovative designs to global customer support, we deliver expert solutions for clients worldwide. Based at Meridian Business Park in Leicester, we’re a skilled team of specialist engineers working at the cutting edge of power generation machinery.

We’re looking for an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist engineering business, working on bespoke machinery from build through to customer handover. This is a predominantly factory‑based role (approx. 75%), with regular opportunities to travel and commission machines on‑site.

Factory‑Based Responsibilities (Approx. 75%)

• Carry out QA checks on sub‑assemblies, machines, and production lines
• Test and validate machinery against specifications
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers
• Prepare QA and inspection documentation
• Decommission machines ready for shipping
• Support customer queries and after‑sales issues
• Deliver machine demonstrations and trials

Site Responsibilities

• Install and commission machinery at customer sites
• Set up, align, and integrate machines
• Perform on‑site fault finding and troubleshooting
• Train customers on machine operation
• Ensure compliance with safety standards

Travel Requirements

Typically one trip per month of either;

• 1–2 days (UK/Europe)
• 1 week (Europe or further afield)
• 2–3 weeks (long haul)
• Occasional longer trips (up to 5–6 weeks). All travel and expenses covered.

Essential

• Mechanical assembly / machine build experience
• ONC/HNC or degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
• Experience in testing, commissioning, or fault finding
• Comfortable working with customers

• Salary range £35,000 to £43,000 dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset
• 37.5 hour working week, Friday finish at 1.30pm for production teams
