Overview
Our client demonstrates almost 40 years of experience in the manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic systems for a range of industrial applications. The company is a leading automation system solution provider in the UK and is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Control Software Engineer to complement their professional team and deliver machine control system solutions for various automated machinery projects.
Competitive compensation of approximately £55,000 plus benefits.
Location:
East Midlands (commutable from Nottingham, Leicester, and Coventry), with the primary office near Leicester.
- Write and develop software, PLC and HMI coding for automation projects.
- Electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special‑purpose automated machinery.
- Deliver control and safety systems that comply with the Machinery Directive and applicable standards.
- Design electrical systems, select components and generate detailed circuit diagrams.
- Integrate various robots, including SCARA, Delta and 6‑axis.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers and team members; communicate effectively at all levels.
- Run projects through from design, development and commissioning stages of machine control and safety systems.
- Create electrical documentation: circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents and BOMs.
- Ensure compliance with European and international safety standards and manage component selection and procurement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding with experience using Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment.
- Comprehensive skills and experience in electrical design for machine automation using ePlan.
- Knowledge of national and international electrical standards for machine design and safety.
- Degree level or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related control system discipline.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK as required.
