Do you enjoy problem-solving, technical analysis and getting hands-on with complex engineering systems?

This role is built for engineers who are curious by nature and enjoy uncovering the root cause behind real incidents, failures and losses.

You will investigate engineering failures across industrial, commercial and domestic environments, analysing everything from machinery breakdowns and structural failures to electrical incidents, fires and process failures.

Every investigation is different. Every conclusion must be evidence-based.

The Role

You will join a specialist forensic engineering consultancy, where you will:
  • Attend live incident sites across a wide range of industries
  • Investigate engineering failures, accidents and major losses
  • Examine damaged equipment, systems and structures
  • Collect, preserve and analyse technical evidence
  • Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical, electrical and industrial failures
  • Work alongside insurers, legal professionals and technical specialists
  • Analyse failure mechanisms, sequences of events and contributing factors
  • Produce detailed technical reports and findings
  • Communicate conclusions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support litigation and expert witness work where required
This is a hands-on investigative role that combines engineering knowledge with forensic analysis and technical problem-solving.

What You Will Bring
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemistry, Structural or related Engineering discipline
  • Chartered status or progress towards CEng would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong technical and analytical capability
  • Experience with in engineering, manufacturing, consultancy, maintenance or industrial environments
  • Ability to write clear technical reports
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Commercial awareness and professionalism
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility for travel and site investigations
