Controls Engineer / Control Software Engineer
to £65k neg dep exp plus benefits

Our client demonstrates almost 40 years' experience in the manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic systems for a range of industrial applications and are regarded as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Controls Engineer to complement their established professional team and deliver machine control system solutions allied to a range of automated machinery-based projects.
Responsibilities
- Write and develop software, PLC & HMI coding for various automation projects.
- Perform electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects.
- Deliver control and safety systems that comply with the requirements of the machinery directive and appropriate applicable standards.
- Design electrical system, select components and generate detailed circuit diagrams as required.
- Integrate various robots, including SCARA, Delta & 6‑axis, and liaise with customers, suppliers and team members.
- Work autonomously and as part of a team, ensuring projects are delivered within budgetary and timescale constraints.
- Follow projects through from design, development and commissioning stages on machine control and safety systems and produce associated electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, BOMs and bills of materials.
- Ensure machine electrical systems and safety systems comply with all relevant European and international safety standards and facilitate procurement of all necessary components.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years' experience in software design and PLC coding.
- Particular experience with Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment is highly advantageous.
- Comprehensive skills in electrical design for machine automation using ePlan.
- Knowledge and understanding of the various international electrical standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems.
- Degree level or equivalent in electrical / electronic engineering or a closely related control system discipline.
- Flexible approach to travel to customer sites across the UK if required.
