Summary
A leading engineering firm is seeking a Lead Land & Utilities Surveyor to join their Survey team, primarily supporting projects across the Southern half of the UK, including the Southeast and Midlands. The role involves leading multiple survey teams across various survey disciplines, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and technical accuracy throughout project life cycles. You will manage your own workload and assist others, communicate effectively across departments, and mentor team members to enhance overall performance.
The position suits experienced Senior Surveyors or motivated Surveyors aiming to progress their careers. The role requires flexibility to work shifts and away from the base location, with a strong focus on utility detection, site setting out, data management, and quality control. You will assist site management with survey reporting and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and industry standards. A full UK driving licence and a minimum of five years' traceable employment are essential.
- Expert knowledge of survey disciplines including PAS
128 (Utility Detection) - Ability to lead and manage multiple survey teams
- Strong site setting out skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to interpret scopes, technical information, and drawings
- Good understanding of CAD practices
- Data management and quality control expertise
- Commercial awareness and responsibility
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Flexibility to work shifts and away from base location
- CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, N4CE)
- Utility detection equipment (GPR, EML)
- Survey data management tools
- Full UK driving licence (mandatory)
- PAS
128 Utility Mapping and Surveying (Level 3/4/5 QCF Certificate desirable) - NRSWA accreditation (desirable)
- SSSTS accreditation (desirable)
- PTS accreditation (desirable)
CSCS card (desirable) - Permit To Dig experience (desirable)
- Knowledge of current legislation and industry standards
