Engineering Buyer
Are you an Engineering Buyer looking for your next opportunity? Do you have experience procuring engineered components within a manufacturing environment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOMs? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
Our client, a leading engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an Engineering Buyer to join their team in Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will have a strong procurement background within engineering, excellent supplier management skills, and experience sourcing technical components to support production and business objectives.
Engineering Buyer- Permanent Position
- Salary:
Up to £50,000 (DOE) - Monday to Friday (On-Site)

Job Description
- Source and procure engineered and technical components to support production requirements and project deadlines
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, lead times, and contracts to achieve the best commercial outcomes
- Review engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications to ensure accurate purchasing decisions
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve supply issues, and work closely with engineering, production, and planning teams to maintain material availability
- Maintain accurate purchasing records using ERP/MRP systems and identify opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement or buying of engineered or technical components within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications
- Proven negotiation, supplier management, and commercial awareness skills
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with in machine tools, automation, industrial equipment, aerospace, defence, or heavy engineering would be highly advantageous
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
