Cryogenic Test Engineer

Ampira Energy is supporting an advanced-engineering business that is expanding its engineering team and requires an experienced, specialist Test & Development Engineer. This hands-on role supports the development of next-generation electrical and propulsion technologies, creating and running practical tests on prototype hardware alongside electrical, mechanical and thermal engineers. The varied development position covers experimental equipment, instrumentation, testing, fault investigation and results analysis.

• Build and operate specialist test equipment.
• Plan testing for prototype components and assemblies.
• Configure sensors, instrumentation and data-acquisition equipment.
• Carry out electrical and thermal measurements at low temperatures.
• Investigate test failures and unusual results.
• Analyse findings and communicate recommendations to the engineering team.
• Maintain safe working methods and clear technical records.

• Experience in experimental, development or laboratory testing.
• Practical knowledge of cryogenic or low-temperature systems.
• Confidence working with instrumentation and measurement equipment.
• Test-rig development, commissioning or modification experience.
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• An engineering, physics or related technical background.

• Exposure to vacuum equipment, liquid gases, superconducting systems, thermal testing, high-current equipment, pressure measurement or flow measurement.
