Temporary Finance Specialist - Procure to Pay function (Council Tax Focus)

We are seeking an experienced Finance Specialist to join a busy P2P team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with council tax experience to make an immediate impact within a fast-paced finance function.

The Role Working within the P2P team, you will take ownership of finance activities relating to council tax, supporting the accurate processing, reconciliation, and management of related costs and liabilities. This role would suit someone with hands-on experience in council tax processes, either within a property, housing, or real estate environment or from a local authority setting.

Key Responsibilities

Processing and managing council tax-related invoices and payments
Reconciling council tax accounts and resolving discrepancies
Liaising with local authorities to manage queries, updates, and disputes
Ensuring accurate coding and posting of transactions within finance systems
Supporting tracking and reporting of council tax liabilities
Assisting with wider Procure & Control processes as required
Maintaining strong financial controls and audit-ready documentation
About You

Experience working within a finance function
Essential:
Council tax experience, gained either:
Within property development / housing / real estate, OR
Within a local authority / council tax department
Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
Confident communicator with experience liaising with external stakeholders
Comfortable using finance systems and Excel
