Interim Finance Director

Global Accounting Network are partnering with a PE-backed multisite business looking for an interim Finance Director that is currently undergoing a significant carve-out and transition to a standalone business
.

As part of this transformation, they are looking to appoint an Interim Finance Director to lead the commercial finance agenda and act as a key business partner to the CEO, senior leadership team and PE stakeholders.

This is a hands-on, commercially focused role
, rather than a traditional Financial Director position centred around financial control. An interim Financial Controller will take responsibility for month-end reporting and core accounting, allowing the Interim FD to focus on FP&A, commercial decision support, business partnering and driving performance across the business
.

You will play a key role in helping the business establish itself as a standalone operation while providing the financial insight and challenge required to support its next stage of growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a key commercial finance partner to the CEO and senior leadership team
• Leading the FP&A agenda, including budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
• Developing meaningful management information, KPIs and performance reporting
• Providing commercial analysis and insight to support strategic and operational decision-making
• Working closely with the commercial and operational teams to understand performance drivers, revenue and profitability
• Supporting the business with pricing, margin analysis and commercial decision-making
• Challenging performance and identifying opportunities to improve revenue, profitability and cash generation
• Supporting the PE investor with financial analysis, performance updates and board-level reporting
• Developing and improving the forecasting and planning processes
• Building financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions
• Supporting the carve-out and transition to a standalone finance function
• Establishing appropriate commercial finance processes, reporting and KPIs for the newly independent business
• Working alongside the Financial Controller to ensure consistency between financial reporting and commercial analysis
• Supporting the development of the longer-term finance strategy and team structure
• Providing ad hoc financial analysis and decision support to the leadership team

We are looking for an experienced Interim Finance Director who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment and can make an immediate impact.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience operating at Finance Director, Commercial Finance Director or senior FP&A level
• Strong commercial finance and business partnering experience
• Excellent FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling skills
• Experience working closely with CEOs, senior leadership teams and PE investors
• Previous experience within a PE-backed business
• Experience of a carve-out, separation or transition to a standalone business would be highly advantageous
• Strong commercial understanding with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insight
• Experience driving improvements in reporting, forecasting and commercial decision-making
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
• Experience with Sage 200 would be beneficial
• Experience with in events, hospitality, leisure or a similar consumer-facing sector would be advantageous
• A hands-on approach and the ability to operate effectively without a large finance team around you
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
