East Midlands | Hybrid | £100,000–£120,000 + car allowance + bonus + LTIP
Are you ambitious, with an FD role in a sizeable business in your sights over the next few years? And would you also like plenty of flexibility, a really good working environment and an exceptional package while you get there?
Normally you’d have to pick one. With this role, you don’t.
You’ll be in the office one day a week, hours are flexible, and nobody’s counting. People are trusted to get on with it, and the finance team is settled. People join and they stay, which tells you more about a place than any careers page could.
There’s plenty going on across the group, so it’s rarely quiet. It’s international, has grown both organically and through acquisition, and now runs a number of businesses across different markets, each with its own commercial model. Finance sits right in the middle of all that, and there’s clear progression for the right person as the group keeps developing.
So what’s the job?
It brings FP&A, management accounting and financial control together in one role. You’ll lead an experienced team and own budgeting, forecasting and month-end across the group, working closely with the CFO and with regular exposure to the Board. When the business wants to know what’s really driving performance, or whether the numbers will survive a proper prod, you’ll be the person they ask.
A fair amount of it happens away from the spreadsheet. You’ll spend time with commercial leaders who, quite reasonably, care more about their own targets than your reconciliations. Being confident enough to ask awkward questions and hold people to a forecast will matter as much as the technical side. You’ll also be developing the team, so you’ll need to enjoy bringing people on.
Who would suit it?
This is a fairly specific search, so I’ll be upfront about it. You’ll be ACA qualified, having trained in practice, ideally in audit, and you’ll have built your industry career in larger businesses, ideally a listed PLC. It’s a multi-entity international group, the consolidation has to be right and the numbers get real scrutiny, so that grounding earns its keep. It also needs to sit alongside proper commercial exposure.
You might currently be a Group Financial Controller, Head of FP&A or Head of Finance who wants the next step without trading away flexibility to get it.
The package
The benefits are exceptional. Put them together with the flexibility, and it’s the overall package that really makes this one:
£100,000–£120,000 basic
Car allowance
Bonus
LTIP
Private medical
Enhanced matched pension
Enhanced holiday allowance
Flexible hours, one day a week in the office
It’s confidential, which is a shame, because the name is usually the bit that gets people interested.
